Making investments in the gold retirement plan can be beneficial for the reason that the cost of gold is often steadily climbing. Moreover, the value of gold cannot be affected by external factors. A lot of studies show a steady climb in the price of gold since it is mainly affected by global currency devaluation. The 401k plan invested in gold will experience less inflation in comparison to other assets.
Gold is considered as one of the most dependable investments as its price is practically going to rise as its cost is dependent on currency devaluation. This is more beneficial than those who keep their money inside the bank in order to accumulate interest as there will be a lot more earnings in the end. Ever since the 1997 Tax Payer Relief Act acknowledged precious metals as worthwhile assets, more people have decided to diversify their own investment portfolio.
Those who are wondering what the options are available for people who are interested in having investments in gold would need to have a look at a gold 401k plan. It will include making investments in actual gold and stocks that are related gold. Each has its own advantages, and those having physical gold will generally pay less costs in comparison to stocks related to gold. Nonetheless, they will need to have the space for storage with the capacity for keeping such gold.
Everyone has a diverse investment portfolio invested in many areas. Some would have more dangerous investment portfolios than the others. Nonetheless, they will generally have the capacity to enjoy extra revenue using their investments. A lot more revenue would generally be linked to a greater risk in investment. Many retirement programs could be rolled over into a gold IRA. A monetary advisor must be capable to figure out the details.
Transferring money from a person?s retirement account to a gold 401k plan could be rather easy. Usually, a financial consultant will help to make the necessary changes and deal with the paperwork. Those who are serious about making investments in a retirement gold plan will want to think about the numerous amounts that they want to switch over into gold. Having the numerous options available over the internet, numerous people can apply for the 401k transfer by themselves.
The gold 401k rollover is fairly simple, and people in search of these types of assets should make important changes with a financial consultant. Dependent on the type of association which a person has with a financial institution and the kind of solutions which the banking institution is able to provide, different costs will be incurred for making a consultation when it comes to a gold 401k account. The gold rollover will have to be submitted to a gold IRA manager.
Generally speaking, a lot of banking institutions that guide their members will need to talk about all of the choices which are out there to ensure that the customers would be secure. The monetary consultants normally wouldn?t demand additional fees for their solutions. A lot of them are able to provide detailed information concerning the process associated with rolling over a person?s 401k account into a gold 401k plan.

Rebecca Edmonds, the daughter of an Air Force captain, proudly followed in her father?s footsteps when she joined the armed forces. But her dream came to an abrupt halt when the Air Force found out that she was about to start a family of her own.
Edmonds, a graduate of Marquette University with a full scholarship from the Air Force, became pregnant 13 weeks before she was going to be commissioned as an officer, CNN reported. Six months into her pregnancy, she shared her news with the Air Force. In response, they revoked her $92,000 scholarship and ejected her from the ranks.
The Air Force strictly forbids single parents from enlisting -- a policy Edmonds alleges that she was unaware of when she found out she was pregnant. The Air Force put the single parent policy in place due to the difficult strains deployment puts on the children of single parents, according to CNN.
The U.S. military is committed to ensuring that enlisted members take care of family obligations, such as child care, before deploying for service. According to the 2012 research paper published by Indiana University ? Purdue University Indianapolis, a single parent must submit in writing that an individual not enlisted in the military will take responsibility over the child and individuals who do not comply could be immediately terminated from service.
The Air Force contends that if Edmonds was honest about her pregnancy from the beginning, she would not of been discharged so abruptly, according to CNN. In a letter written to Edmonds? attorney about the case, an Air Force official wrote, "If Ms. Edmonds had reported her pregnancy she would have been placed on medical recheck status until she gave birth.? The letter goes on to explain that Edmonds would only be able to be deployed ?if she were not a single parent, for example, if she were married, or had given the child up for adoption."
A policy that strictly forbids individuals from giving up custody of their child for the purpose of joining the ranks is outlined on the Air Force?s website. If a single parent attempting to join the Air Force indicates that their child is in the custody of someone else, they are required to acknowledge that ?his/her intent at the time of enlist was not to enter the Air Force with the express intention of regaining custody after enlistment.?
Edmonds isn?t the only single parent with dreams of joining the armed forces. In 2009, it was estimated that more than 30,000 single mothers had deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Researchers like Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Blanchard, the director of behavior medicine at Nellis Family Medicine Residency in Nevada, have have highlighted the need for more services for single parents in the military.
Although mothers serving their country face a unique set of battles when it comes to balancing their job and their family, many women in other professions have also alleged they were unjustly fired due to pregnancy. Jamera Lee Massop of Jamaica, N.Y. contends that she was abruptly fired from her job as an administrative assistant when she was six months pregnant. Jarretta Hamilton, previously a fourth-grade teacher in the Atlanta area, filed a lawsuit against her school district for being fired after telling her principle she was pregnant.
Edmonds case is currently under review. She told CNN that she hopes that her case will make the military reconsider its current policy on single parents enlisting for service.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ? In an expression of his support for October?s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, two-time NBA All-Star and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love shaved his head as part of his ?Spreadlove? community outreach program.
Teaming up with four-time NFL All-Pro wide receiver and Arizona Cardinal Larry Fitzgerald, the two are spreading love and awareness in an effort to raise money for breast cancer.
An online video documenting Fitzgerald serving as Love?s barber, is now posted on YouTube. By sharing their experience with the social media community, the athletes have pledged to donate $0.25 for every ?retweet? on Twitter and ?like? or ?share? on Facebook and every ?view? on YouTube and every ?+1? from now until the end the end of the month.
Love and Fitzgerald will donate a total of up to $250,000 to their charities of choice, Bright Pink and American Cancer Society/ Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, respectively.
Love?s close friend Betty Goldie was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, and Fitzgerald lost his mother, Carol Fitzgerald, to breast cancer in 2003; so the two share a meaningful connection to the cause.
?This is a special campaign that is particularly close to my heart,? Love said. ?As an active member of the social media community, my hope is that Spreadlove will reach millions and encourage as many people as possible to support the cause. It just takes one click.?

India Women v Thailand Women ? Asian Cricket Council Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup (Group A) ? Match Update
Aided by a concentrated bowling attack, the India Women claimed a comprehensive 77-run win over the Thailand Women in their Group A match during the ongoing Asian Cricket Council Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup, at the Guanggong International Cricket Stadium in China, today on October 25.
The India Women won the toss and elected to bat first, and while Thailand?s Somnarin Tippoch (3-0-19-2) and Nattakan Chantam (4-0-15-1) attempted to keep their opponents in check, the India Women eventually posted a final total of 109 by the end of 20 overs.
Poonam Raut (8) and Mona Mehsram (17) opened the innings for their side, but the opening stand did not proceed beyond 16 runs. Raut fell prey to Chantam in the 6th over, but her successor, skipper Mithali Raj, top-scored for the team with 28, in addition to setting up a 21-run stand with Meshram. The latter was sent back to the pavilion in the 10th over, dismissed via run out, but Player of the Match Raj soldiered on, establishing a 38-run stand with Harmanpreet Kaur (15).
Their combined efforts got the team up to 75 by the 15th over, after which Kaur was caught and bowled by Tippoch, and Raj also fell prey to Tippoch in the 17th over. Nagarajan Niranjana (16*) and Amita Sharma (13*) joined forces for the final partnership of the Indian Women?s innings, setting up an unbeaten 28-run stand which got the team up to a final total of 109 by the end of 20 overs.
The team then followed up their batting performance with a fierce bowling display ? every one of their 6 bowlers, save one, claimed two wickets each, and displayed incredible economy. Aided by the efforts of Ekta Bisht (4-2-7-2), Rasanara Parwin (4-1-8-2), Niranjana (4-1-9-2), Reema Malhotra (2-1-1-2), and Meshram (1.3-1-1-2), the India Women cut their opponents off, all out, at a paltry 32.
Nattaya Boochatham remained the top-scorer for the Thailand Women with a dismal 8-run contribution, while skipper Tippoch only managed a paltry 1, as did Naruemol Chaiwai and Rattana Sangsoma. Chantam, Nantanit Konchan, and Premwadee Doungsin were all dismissed on duck, and by the final over, the Thailand Women were all out at 32, granting the India Women a 77-run win.

Summer has drawn to a close and fall is rapidly cooling.? By this time of the year, many of us have already turned on our furnaces are are getting ready for a long chilly winter.? What people don?t realize is that while heating our homes, we are drying out the very air around us.? This means we, as humans, experience dry rough skin, among other things, but so too do our pets!
You may notice that as winter arrives and the weather changes, our dogs and cats get a little itchier.? Used to the moisture that is in the air during the spring and summer months, the influx of dry heat into our homes can do a number on our pets.? While many people employ a humidifier to ease the environment for everyone (and a very good idea it is too!), there is another solution to the problem ? add Grizzly Salmon Oil to your pet?s diet!
Fish oil is probably the one supplement that EVERYONE should be giving to their pets.? Regardless of whether you are a raw feeder or a kibble feeder, fish oil contains beneficial nutrients that help to keep our pets healthier.? In addition to that, fish oil and the Omega 3?s it contains, can be your best way to combat dry skin.? While it has many benefits, skin and coat health is one of its premiere abilities.? Fish oil contains both DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EHA (eicosapentaenoic acid).? While DHA helps primarily with brain function, EHA works to keep skin healthy.? It regulates oil production thus helping with hydration.? It also is an anti-oxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent which helps to keep skin supple and elastic.? Often given to relieve itching in dogs with actual allergic conditions, fish oil is exceptional at battling the effects of dry skin in general.? After some time, itching will become a thing of the past.
If you feed your dog a raw natural diet that includes fish, you very well may be giving them some of the fish oil and Omega 3?s that they desperately need ? but it is unlikely that you are giving them as much as they truly need.? If you are feeding kibble, they aren?t getting any at all.? Many bags of kibble will proclaim that they contain fish oil, and it isn?t a lie.
Wild salmon provides the best fish oil that you can get for your pet!
The problem is that fish oil is a relatively volatile substance ? it tends to break down quickly once exposed to air and light.? It changes and its benefits are largely, if not completely, negated.? They aren?t fibbing ? its in there ? its just not usable.? Giving your pet a separate and known source of fish oil is imperative to keep their skin and coat in the best condition it can be in.
Combat the winter itchies with pure Grizzly Salmon Oil.? Other fish can provide Omega 3?s as well, but salmon does the job the best!? Taken from 100% wild Alaskan salmon, this product is produced in such a way as to not even come close to touching the air until you pump it into your pet?s bowl.? This provides a high quality and freshness that cannot be beat.? The DHA and EHA in Grizzly Salmon Oil is 100% accessible.? See results more quickly and more definitively with Grizzly Salmon Oil.? You won?t be disappointed!

A new report by the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute shows that the length of the average hospital stay in the United States has increased at the same time as use of medical imaging scans has declined. It is unclear if the trends are related, but potentially important, as hospital admissions are among the largest, and fastest growing, health care costs. More research is needed to assess the potential negative impact of government and private insurer imaging reductions on overall medical costs and patient safety.
"Lawmakers, regulators and medical professionals are making medical imaging policy decisions without fully understanding or examining their downstream effects which may include an increase in hospital stays, associated costs and other adverse events. We need to examine imaging, as it relates to a patient's overall continuum of care, to ensure that decision makers don't create imaging cost reduction policies which paradoxically raise overall costs, create barriers to care, and ultimately harm patients," said Richard Duszak, MD, chief executive officer and senior research fellow of the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute.
Much of a building body of research regarding medical imaging focuses on declining costs and utilization of imaging. There is relatively little research focused on imaging as a component of overall patient care. For many serious indications, imaging scans have been shown to reduce the number of invasive surgeries, unnecessary hospital admissions and length of hospital stays. Rarer still is data on the effect of $6 billion in funding reductions for imaging diagnosis and treatment planning since 2006. The information that is available is not necessarily positive in terms of patient safety and access to care.
This is the first policy brief produced by the Neiman Institute, which conducts and supports research regarding medical imaging use, quality and safety metrics, and human resources as medicine moves toward non-traditional, value-based payment and delivery. The data gleaned from these efforts will serve as the basis for true, evidence-based medical imaging policy.
"We need to take a hard look at the cost, access and quality and safety issues related to present government and private insurer medical imaging policies and find ways to maximize the value, role and efficiency of radiology as health care systems evolve. The Neiman Institute will provide much needed information to ensure that future imaging policies benefit patients and make efficient, effective use of health care resources," said Duszak.

Nonetheless, using the rapidly boom of technologies, the world wide web is also considered
as one of the easiest and comfortable avenue to disseminate product attention.
The term "free", possibly, would be the most persuasive word in a marketer's vocabulary and
this is generally what Viral Marketing and advertising is about. In the term by itself, that's
coined in the phrase "Virus", viral advertising and marketing is really a advertising approach
that's similar for the spread of the epidemic that can reach other individuals by means of term
of mouth to boost manufacturer consciousness.
Viral Marketing and advertising has been preferred for the reason that it's been established
to be far more effective as opposed to other individuals. It makes marketing less complicated,
and it can obtain a higher and fast response price at a relative low-cost. Recall, if a single
likes a certain services, someone will tell it to his buddy then his buddy will pass it to her
buddy, for that reason, a term or mouth advertising and marketing begins. Even so, one
major weakness of this strategy is the fact that messages, that are commonly ship by e-mails
may appear like spam mails, hence producing a negative impression on the brand name and
devoid of realizing it, the mentioned advertising messages will just be sent for the e-mail's
trash bin.
One standard instance of viral advertising and marketing is definitely the Hotmail.com
whereby the tactic goes such as this. They give away free of charge e-mail service, then
each message they sent includes a very simple tag at the bottom which says "Get your
private, absolutely free e-mail at http://www.hotmail.com". On the other hand, people who
receives the e-mail will probably be in a position to view the notice below the message and it
will encourage them to have their own e-mail handle with hotmail because it is simply at no
cost then the checklist goes on, the propelling of message to achieve a variety of recipients
hence increasing social networking sites.
You'll find quite a few varieties of viral messages and techniques of transmission. One form
will be the pass-along message which encourages customers to pass the message to other
people. One example of this can be chain letters which prompts viewers at the finish with the
message to forward the e-mail to many users believing that they will get fantastic luck if
forwarded and poor luck if done otherwise. A further form would be the notorious anonymous
matching on ecrush.com which requires a consumer to produce a checklist of good friends or
acquaintances they secretly crush on. A complement only happens when the item in their
affection responds by logging in and does the exact same. The majority of these solutions
enable users to e-mail anonymous messages notifying them that a concealed particular
person fancies them. Hopeful romantics develop into connected on this marketing as they
aim to find out if their crush also feels the identical for them.
Also, the process of dissemination can take place in various approaches. It may very well be

If you're one of the many people who pre-ordered Microsoft's Surface with Windows RT, you could be getting your tablet just in time for its official October 26th ship date -- and perhaps even before then. According to a few reader tips and a confirmation email sent to WP Central, those tablets are indeed in the shipping stages and could arrive as early as next week depending on your selected delivery method. While there have been reports of delays in UK and Canada, those were apparently incorrect, and we have no reason to believe the US shipments won't be on time. That said, if you haven't pre-ordered and you want one soon, you better get a move on -- Microsoft's store currently shows that Surface RT with touch cover bundles are shipping in one to two weeks while standalone units are set to ship in three weeks. Or maybe you can cross your fingers and hope you're one of five million to find one gift-wrapped under the tree.

In the global reverse brain drain, migrants begin to influence a frumpy, provincial Poland in everything from toilets to insurance coverage to workplace attitude.

Mr. Burkot had worked all over the globe ? Europe, the United States, and Asia ? in jobs with prestigious research organizations like the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and in private industry at Motorola. But after his 2006 interview at Google's California headquarters, he decided to settle his R&D outfit in Krakow because of its ongoing information and technology boom, and for the chance to bring something home.
RELATED: Four reasons illegal immigration from Mexico to the US has dropped
Burkot hopes Google's creativity and openness ? "Crazy in a good way," he says ? will rub off in a nation still a bit frumpy and provincial in the aftermath of communism. He recently took his team sailing on the Mediterranean Sea, not a typical Polish workplace outing. Google's offices, located across from an 11th-century Orthodox church, are a model of everything cutting edge in the industry, with a pirate flag, a ping-pong table, 24-hour access, and a disregard for hierarchy.
Meanwhile, Burkot's R&D teams, including returning Poles, are in headlong pursuit of faster search engine speed with ever larger caches of information. "That's the hard problem ? speed plus size," he says, happy to be engrossed in his passion back in Krakow.
Steady 'circulatory' trickle of return
In some ways, Poland is the country in Europe most poised to benefit from a "brain gain" brought about by its returning migrants. For one, Poland's economy has boomed relative to those of its European neighbors: It grew 13 percent in the past five years while the rest of European economies shrank. For example, Poland is a top appliance and flat-screen-TV producer on the Continent, even as its identity as a manufacturing workshop is giving way to more R&D.
But second, and most crucial, is the large Polish diaspora. The Polish brain drain took human capital abroad for decades, partly because Poles enjoyed special visitation rights abroad under the Soviets; but largely because of the big explosion of emigration in 2004 when Poland joined the European Union. This marked the first generation of legal mobility, and the time is often spoken of in rapturous terms of new freedoms. Educated youth, many from rural areas, left in staggering numbers. Estimates of their exodus are sketchy, but 2 million departures may be in the ballpark, say experts. The vast majority landed in Ireland and England, feeding the rise of Europe's cheap-airlines phenomenon.
Burkot's return to Krakow with Google is a tidy example of the potential of brain gain in Poland after the global financial crash of 2008 and Europe's austerity. But analysts say there is not yet any mass U-turn to Poland ? just a steady trickle.
A critical mass of brain gain brought by returning Poles is largely still a hope or expectation, says Pavel Kaczmarczyk, vice director of the Center for Migration Research at the University of Warsaw and an adviser to Polish President Donald Tusk.
There is evidence some Poles have returned. For example, the number of Poles living in Ireland peaked in 2005 at 325,000 and has dropped now to 126,000, according to the recent Irish census.

The Online World now plays a vital role in society. People usually use the internet not just to interact with friends and loved ones all over the world, but additionally to find goods that they need in their daily lives. Because of the wide-ranging reach of the World Wide Web, more and more businesses are now creating websites to gain better access to their markets. Nevertheless, just having a business web site doesn?t mean that a company can attract more buyers. There are some tactics for Internet marketing and web design Mackay businesses should employ to ensure success as an ecommerce business.
The success of a business website begins with the structure and visual appeal of the website itself. A well-designed website that can be navigated quickly by users guarantees more repeat visits (and therefore, higher conversions) than a site that is hard to use or one that?s laden with dated or unappealing images. Companies should keep in mind that online viewers tend to spend only a few seconds or minutes surfing around a new website and judging whether they will continue surfing around or not. It?s very important to make a good impact within this very short time period ? a visitor who can?t find the details he needs in a few seconds will soon become a customer lost.
Having a really good design and structure, nevertheless, is definitely not sufficient to usher in customers. Site owners also needs to employ ways to make their websites more search engine-friendly. This is because a large number of site visitors come from search engine rankings; after all, consumers are very likely to simply search for the products they need and simply click on websites indicated in search engine pages than visit a site straightaway. Therefore, businesses should research the right chosen keywords related to their products and optimise their sites to have the most traffic from search engine results.
Aside from effective web designs as well as search engine optimisation, e-commerce websites should also use videos and other media to promote their products online. Putting a video online can help increase its search rankings on search results ? sometimes, videos could actually help bring a web site to the top results page! Besides increasing site rankings, videos offer a great way to interact with customers. Using videos, companies can discuss their items in depth without losing a customer?s attention. This method is truly effective in keeping a buyer?s focus since consumers are very likely to finish enjoying a video than go through product information in their entirety.
The Online World does give companies a chance to reach a bigger audience; however, it should be noted that many other businesses are trying to do exactly the same. These web based marketing tips -high-quality website design, search engine optimization, and use of media channels like videos ? can really help even small companies compete with more well-known institutions.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel dropped its annual simulation of a missile attack and held its first major earthquake drill on Sunday instead, but officials insisted the country remained as ready as ever for the possibility of a war with arch-foe Iran.
School children, civil servants and others participating in the "Turning Point 6" exercise were urged to flee outdoors if possible as radio and TV channels broadcast tremor alerts. In previous years, people were told to go to household bomb shelters in order to flee an imaginary missile attack.
"We want people to run into homes during a missile attack, and we want people to run out of homes during an earthquake," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after he and fellow ministers evacuated their weekly cabinet meeting.
The change in format comes at a time when hostile rhetoric over Tehran's disputed nuclear program has waned, with both Israel and the United States about to hold elections and Western powers pursuing ever-stronger sanctions against Iran.
But Israeli officials denied the drill signaled an easing of their stance on Iran.
Defence Minister Ehud Barak said the exercise readied Israel for more than "something that happens once in 5,000 years", but for what he called "the very real scenarios" of missile strikes.
Other officials emphasized the risk of an earthquake given the abutting Syria-Africa rift along Israel's eastern frontier.
"We understand that earthquakes will certainly happen. The question is when," Mickey Tessler, a brigadier-general in Israel's military Homefront Command, told Army Radio.
"It is very important to emphasize that whoever is ready for earthquakes perforce increases his readiness level for various events, including wartime events," he said.
Tessler said people should respond "in seconds" due to Israel's lack of seismic early warning systems but another official said work on technologies that could eventually detect tremors up to half a minute in advance was underway.
"NO LINK TO MILITARY MANOEUVRES"
Turning Point 6 was to feature simulations of 5.4- and 7.1- scale tremors as well as a tsunami drenching the coast, where most of Israel's population and industry is centered.
Israelis on the lower floors of buildings were instructed to find safe ground outside, and those on higher storeys to shelter in fortified rooms, with doors kept open, or under sturdy furniture.
Officials said that Israel had once adhered to a policy followed in other earthquake-prone countries for people to take cover indoors rather than venture outside.
"However, upon review, we found because buildings in Israel tend to be made of heavier materials such as bricks, it would be better to advise those who can to go outdoors," Alon Rozen, an ex-director general of the civil defence ministry, said.
The drill coincided with Israeli-hosted joint missile-defence maneuvers with U.S. forces. That three-week drill, "Austere Challenge 2012", is unrelated to Turning Point 6, an Israeli military spokeswoman said.
Israel has hinted it could resort to military force to deny Iran the means to make nuclear arms - which Tehran denies seeking - and has made similar threats to attack Syria's chemical arsenal. Either action could draw retaliatory missiles against the Jewish state from Iran, Syria and Islamist militants in Lebanon and Gaza.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) ? People who live in battleground states tend to have a number and a coping strategy.
Virginian Catherine Caughey's number is four: Her family recently got four political phone calls in the space of five minutes.
Ohioan Charles Montague's coping mechanism is his TV remote. He pushes the mute button whenever a campaign ad comes on.
All the attention that the presidential campaigns are funneling into a small number of hard-fought states comes at a personal price for many voters.
The phone rings during a favorite TV show. Traffic snarls when a candidate comes to town. A campaign volunteer turns up on the doorstep during dinner. Bills get buried in a stack of campaign fliers. TV ads spew out mostly negative vibes.
The effects are cumulative.
"It's just too much," says Carmen Medina, of Chester, Va. "It's becoming a little too overwhelming."
Medina, it should be noted, is an enthusiastic supporter of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. She squealed with joy outside the United Latino Market in Richmond when she learned that Romney had just appeared at a rally across the street.
But she's starting to block phone numbers to Make. The. Calls. Stop.
Even Ann Romney, the candidate's wife, has had enough. "I don't want to get myself upset so I am not watching television for the moment," she told the women on ABC's "The View" on Thursday.
"Trust me, the audience members that are in swing states are sick of them," she said of political ads.
Ditto the president.
"If you're sick of hearing me approve this message, believe me, so am I," Barack Obama said during the Democratic National Convention.
The parties speak with pride of their massive ground operations ? the door knockers, the phone banks, the campaign signs and more. They trumpet the higher level of activity this year than in 2008.
With the campaign now focused on just nine states ? Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin ? the parties are able to target their resources narrowly.
Republicans say they've made three times more phone calls and 23 times more door knocks in Ohio than they had by this time in 2008, for example, and nearly six times more phones calls and 11 times more door knocks in Virginia. Democrats don't give out that level of detail, but describe ambitious outreach activities from their 60-plus field offices in Virginia and 125 in Ohio.
The campaigns and independent groups supporting them are expected to pour about $1.1 billion into TV ads this year, the vast majority of it in the most competitive states.
But does all of this activity reach a point of diminishing returns? Is there a risk of overkill?
Not to David Betras, chairman of the Democratic Party in Ohio's Mahoning County. He considers himself a field general in the battle to re-elect Obama, and enthusiastically details the party's efforts on his turf.
"Is there a saturation point? I haven't heard that," he says. "I think just the opposite. I think people, at least in my neck of the woods, are kind of excited that they're playing such an important role."
But he does say, "Some people you call and of course they're burned out with it, and you thank them very much and you move on."
Clearly, more exposure doesn't always translate into more support.
"The more I see Romney, the less I like," says Kay Martin, who lives in the Denver suburb of Arvada.
And if not generating a backlash, some of that political activity is surely just wasted energy.
Gwynnen Chervenic, in Alexandria, has taught her kids to yell "lies" any time a political ad comes on.
"I'm trying to make sure they develop a healthy skepticism about the election PR process," she explains. "Makes me laugh every time and should help ease the pain until Election Day."
A Fairfax County woman who's a strong Romney supporter emails: "I don't mind telling the Romney campaign or the RNC (Republican National Committee) that I am voting for Romney, but why do I have to tell them that MULTIPLE times?"
She's ready to start giving out a phony phone number. But she doesn't want to be identified by name ? because her husband's working for the Romney campaign. And, yes, she even went with him recently to knock on doors.
"But I was so uncomfortable knocking on people's doors in the evening because I felt like I was doing the very thing that bothers me," she admits.
Political psychologist Stanley Renshon, a professor at City University of New York, said most Americans don't spend a lot of time thinking about politics, and don't particularly like being the focus of too much political attention.
But the campaigns just won't ? or can't ? stop reaching out.
"They can't not try to win your vote, even at the risk of alienating your vote," says Renshon. "You don't want to regret not doing everything you can do."
John Geer, a political science professor at Vanderbilt University, says it's the political equivalent of an arms race, and neither side dares stop the carpet bombing.
"We don't know exactly where saturation occurs, but I think we're way past that," he says.
For those from less competitive states, the number and tone of ads can be jarring.
"I think people are just upset about the lies," says Pamela Ash, a 66-year-old Obama volunteer from Arizona who's been visiting her brother in Ohio to help the campaign. "Enough already. I just can't stand it."
Even the people making the calls understand the annoyance.
Maria Buzzi estimates that 10 percent to 15 percent of the calls she makes during her volunteer shift at Romney's Stow, Ohio, offices end with frustrations.
"I've been called a G-D, F-ing B," the 67-year-old retired nurse and grandmother said. "I'm a sensitive person and they are just vicious. It hurts my feelings and I take it personally. But I really want to help Mitt Romney."
After those tough calls, she hangs up and takes a moment to compose herself. Then she picks up the phone and dials another voter.
Maybe one of her calls will end up in tiny Payson, Utah, about as far from the political front as you can get this year.
That's where Katie Peterson lives. She moved there from Ohio four years ago.
Says Peterson: "Somehow all those people making the phone calls think I still live there and that they need to call all the time."

Warner Bros. has been embroiled in legal troubles regarding the copyright of Superman (and derivative properties like Superboy) more times than they?ve made successful Superman films.* Most damningly, in 2008, a federal court ruled that the heirs of Jerry Siegel ? co-creator of Superman ? could reclaim 50% of Superman?s rights in 2013.
Now, U.S. District Judge Otis Wright has ruled that the heirs of Superman?s other creator ? Joe Shuster ? have no claim to those rights, as Jean Peavy, Shuster?s sister, struck a deal with DC Comics in 1992 covering her late brother?s debts (in addition to paying her $25,000 every year for the rest of her life).
In the deal, DC?s then Executive Vice President, Paul Levitz, warned Peavy that by taking the deal she?d be ?fully resolv[ing] any past, present or future claims against DC.?
You can read the full ruling over at The Hollywood Reporter, but that?s the gist. Joe Shuster?s heirs, for the foreseeable future, will have no claim to Superman and the rights thereof.
I?m sure we?ll hear a collective sigh of relief (or some sort of ?hurrah?) from those fans who think that Joe Shuster?s heirs are just being greedy and don?t deserve the Superman rights. And, on the other end of the spectrum, creators? rights activists will probably be considerably less thrilled. Still, had Jean Peavy never signed a pact with DC in 1992, the Shuster heirs? attempt to recapture Superman?s rights might?ve had a clearer path to success.
With all that said, this ruling has no bearing whatsoever on the federal court?s previous ruling that Jerry Siegel?s heirs could reclaim 50% of Superman?s rights ? including the origin story, the iconic costume, Clark Kent, and everything else from Action Comics #1 (which would leave Warner Bros. things like Lex Luthor, the power of flight, and Kryptonite).
Warner Bros., of course, is appealing that decision, and a hearing on the matter (and various other claims) will take place on November 5th, 2012.
The next Superman film ? Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill as Superman himself ? is in post-production currently and hits theaters June 14th, 2013.
(*But perhaps not as many times as they?ve made?unsuccessful Superman films??Zing.)

BOSTON (AP) ? Jason Aldean will be making history at one of baseball's most historic sites.
Aldean will be the first country music star to play a concert at Fenway Park, the iconic home of the Boston Red Sox. The July 13 appearance will be the initial stop on his first stadium tour. Aldean made the announcement Thursday in the shadow of the Green Monster with an assist from Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino and members of the team who made a celebratory clip for the singer that played on Fenway's video board.
"Being the first country music artist to ever come here and headline a show is amazing," Aldean said. "It's going to be a fun night. Over the last several years, my career, especially the touring side of that, has been pretty amazing. It's been growing. So thank you guys for having us. I can't wait for July 13."
The Georgia native released his fifth album, "Night Train," this week. That title is an apt metaphor for his career, which has been steaming along on a steep trajectory. About the only thing he hadn't attained yet was a stadium tour, and he's crossing that goal off the list.
Red Sox David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Jarrod Saltalamacchia welcomed Aldean in a video, and he walked out of the dugout to the sound of songs from his new album and signed the wall inside the Green Monster scoreboard.
Aldean is one of country's top draws, but the stadium tour will move him into rare company. Currently, only Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney have that kind of drawing power. But the hard-rocking singer has earned the status, selling more than 1.9 million tickets on his yearlong "My Kinda Party" tour that wraps in Dallas on Oct. 27.
"You think about how long ago he started, you know, playing the small gigs, holes in the wall and honky-tonks. I mean that's what he did. How do you get here? There's no logical path. It has to consume you," said his manager, Chris Parr.
Aldean will be joined in Boston next July by Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett. The area has proven to be receptive to country music. Chesney and Swift have sold out Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, several times and Aldean has drawn enthusiastic crowds at smaller venues.
The stadium tour isn't the only sign Aldean's career continues to pick up speed. The 35-year-old singer is up for three awards, including top honor entertainer of the year, at the Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 1. The first single from "Night Train," ''Take a Little Ride," had the highest selling digital debut for a solo male country artist and was the fastest rising No. 1 on the country song charts this year.

NEW YORK (AP) ? The Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of "Clybourne Park" says he recently withdrew permission for a Berlin theater company to produce the play after learning that one of the actors would perform the roles in blackface.
Bruce Norris, in a letter dated Tuesday to the Dramatists Guild, said that managers at the Deutsches Theater said the female African-American character in the play was be performed by a white actress and producers would "experiment with makeup."
Norris called the use of blackface an "asinine tradition" and urged fellow playwrights to boycott productions of their work by German theaters who employ such tactics. He also urges playwrights to add their name to a petition condemning the ongoing practice of blackface in German theaters.
"Normally I don't meddle in the cultural politics of other countries, but when my work and the work of my colleagues ? other playwrights ? is misrepresented, I do," Norris writes. "A zero-tolerance position is the only position to take."
"Clybourne Park," a seven person play with two black characters, is about racial and economic changes occurring in a neighborhood over a 50-year period. It won the best play Tony Award this year.
The play is a riff on "A Raisin in the Sun," Lorraine Hansberry's groundbreaking drama about the first African-American family to move into the fictional all-white Chicago neighborhood of Clybourne Park.
The first act of "Clybourne Park" takes place in 1959, just before the African-American family moves in, and the second is set in 2009, where a dispute over the house boils over into angry racist accusations.
