While the BitbeamBot can do more than just play everyone's favorite smart phone game, its inventor figured it would be a fun way to demonstrate his creation's capabilities.
Jason Huggins, founder and CEO of Sauce Labs, recently demoed his robot at the PyCon 2012, a convention dedicated to the Python, a computer programming language. In the following, he explains the genesis of the project, which originally had nothing do with goofing off and playing games:
As Huggins touches upon, things built need to be tested, an un-fun fact of life that has been around since the dawn of civilization. In modern times, such necessary monotony used to be in the form of a button that had to be pressed over and over again.
With the advent of touch screen interfaces, swiping across a screen might take it's place, which the BitbeamBot hopes to take care off ... before it rises up and kills us all, that is.
At the very least, according to The Unofficial Apple Weblog, the BitbeamBot is apparently very good at "Angry Birds." And I can't seem to recall the T-800 having any kind of personality trait of its own, other than learning how to say "hasta la vista, baby" in "Terminator 2."?

Exactly what is diabetes and why are numerous people so nervous about this disease affecting them? Diabetes is a condition where the body does not develop sufficient insulin. Insulin is created by the pancreas which aids the body cells absorb blood sugar or glucose to convert it in to energy. You have to take into account that diabetes is a disease where you dont necessarily feel anything. But, there might already be bad things occuring inside your body if you dont get it handled. The easiest way to take care of diabetes is by managing or by keeping your blood sugar level at an acceptable level.
There is still no cure found for diabetes. But you do do not have to worry because it can be managed. You need to know that diabetes can increase the risk of heart diseases, stroke, blindness and in many cases kidney damage. Any wounds you get takes longer to heal and are more prone to get infected. Individuals with diabetes can develop skin disorders and foot problems that may end up in amputation. It is possible to prevent or at least decrease these things from affecting you through proper management with the correct diet, medication, and exercise.
Hyperglycemia is not the only problem that you will encounter if you have diabetes. You will also experience hypoglycemia or low blood sugar level. These two can be potentially life threatening, which is why you need to stick to a healthy diet and exercise plan. You also need to follow doctors orders and keep up with your medications.
By keeping your blood sugar level at an acceptable level, you will be able to decrease the risk of diabetes-related complications, such as kidney disease, heart disease, stroke, blindness and foot and skin disorders.
Diabetic Life is difficult. You really need to improve your lifestyle. You must be conscious of the food you eat, when you eat, and you also have to exercise and strictly comply with your medications. Controlling diabetes entails that you need to continuously and regularly monitor your blood sugar level. This means that you must get your own glucose meter device, which will be able to help you watch your blood sugar level.
To help to make it much simpler for you to cope with the disease, you have to learn how to accept the disease. Most people are left in denial that they have the disease and generally neglect proper treatment until it is too late. If you take that you are going to put up with this disease for the rest of your life, the less difficult it will be for you. Always keep in mind that right management is the key to living a diabetic life.
With these points, you can be certain that you will be able to overcome diabetes and let you live a full and a life that is as normal as possible.

On March 15, 2012, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special Museum Afternoon for all employees in the Technische Sammlungen Dresden (Dresden Technology Collections). During this event, the HZDR's outstanding scientific achievements of the last year were honored in the presence of Prof. Hans Mller-Steinhagen, Rector of the TU Dresden [Dresden University of Technology], and Museum Director Roland Schwarz.
The recent history of today's Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, which has been bearing this name since becoming a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres on January 1, 2011, began on January 1, 1992. Back then, the research center, like many other scientific institutions in East Germany, was reestablished. The history of the scientific venue actually dates all the way back to 1956.
The HZDR celebrated this anniversary on March 15 with a Helmholtz Afternoon in cooperation with the Technische Sammlungen Dresden. The museum opened its doors exclusively for the HZDR employees and their relatives. On display were, for example, the Helmholtz Association's traveling exhibition "Wunderkammer Wissenschaft" with several hundred captivating images from research. The HZDR is also be represented with an exhibition module.
At this event, the HZDR Awards were bestowed in the presence of Prof. Hans Mller-Steinhagen, Rector of the TU Dresden, and Roland Schwarz, Director of the Technische Sammlungen. The awards are presented once a year in the categories Research, Technology, and Scientific Communication for outstanding achievements in these sectors as well as for the best doctoral dissertation.
Research Award
The Research Award honors the following HZDR scientists: Prof. Peter Brust, Dr. Winnie Deuther-Conrad, Dr. Steffen Fischer, and Dr. Achim Hiller. They are working at the Institute of Radiopharmacy at the HZDR Research Site Leipzig. They will be honored for their development of the radio tracer [Fluor-18]Flubatine which accelerates the early detection of Alzheimer's dementia. This radioactively labeled substance, which is based on a compound found in South American poison arrow frogs, substantially shortens the examination period for Alzheimer's.
Technology Award
The Technology Award was presented to Dr. Sven Eckert and Klaus Timmel from the Institute of Fluid Dynamics. For the first time ever, they conducted flow measurements to investigate the use of magnetic brakes. These brakes are used in industrial steel castings to improve product quality. However, not as expected, the liquid metal flow does not settle down, but is actually agitated. The results foster a better understanding of the impact exerted by the magnetic fields and, thus, contribute towards improving and optimizing their industrial application.
Award for Doctoral Candidates
The Award for Doctoral Candidates was bestowed on Dr. Norbert Martin for his doctoral dissertation which was completed at the Institute of Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research and the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW). He developed an innovative procedure for the production and characterization of magnetic layers and elements which can be applied in the magnetic storage technology sector.
Recognition Awards were presented to Dr. Anne Heller (Institute of Resource Ecology) and Dr. Christophe Valle (Institute of Fluid Dynamics) for their doctoral dissertations.
Award for Scientific Communication
The Award for Scientific Communication went to Dr. Sren Kliem, Dr. Frank Schfer, Lars Holt, and Polina Tusheva from the Institute of Resource Ecology. They are working in the field of nuclear safety engineering and will be honored for their effective public relations work in the aftermath of the reactor accident in Fukushima. Back then, they had been very important contact persons for the media.

We think nothing of visiting the Dentist every 6 months, and the Doctor for an annual checkup. Likewise, most of us regularly maintain our automobiles. Regular maintenance of your business is every bit as essential.
The most common business entities used in Michigan are the Limited Liability Company and the Corporation. Less common, but still often found, are general partnership and sole proprietorship. There are numerous variations of these entities which each serves its own specific purpose and will often require specialized tools and knowledge.
Corporations
Corporations were the entity of choice for many years. The primary advantage to the corporate business form is limitation of liability for its owners. Secondary advantages include the ability to structure plans for management, buy-sell provisions, succession and estate planning, and in some cases tax advantages.
But there are also disadvantages. Corporations are inherently more "formal" and require more legal maintenance than other forms of business. The Michigan Business Corporation Act (MBCA) requires certain formal actions every year. The shareholders of a corporation must elect or appoint a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors must elect or appoint a minimum of 3 officers: a President, Treasurer and Secretary (they can appoint such other officers as are convenient or appropriate including vice-Presidents).
The Act contemplates a formal annual meeting of shareholders and annual meeting of directors. But it also recognizes the many small businesses act informally. Thus the MBCA also allows a written consent resolution, signed by all the shareholders and directors to be executed in lieu of an annual meeting. While the majority of my clients do just that, we often recommend that the parties hold an actual annual meeting, with all of the businesses strategic and professional advisors in attendance. This can include the attorney and accountant for the corporation, and may also include bankers, financial advisors and insurance professionals. Getting everyone in the same room at one time often assists with the "team" of advisors all being on the same proverbial "page."
The most important thing to realize is that failure to observe this very simple annual requirement can result in a loss of the very liability limitation that was sought by incorporating in the first place!
Corporations must also pay a modest annual fee and file a Michigan Annual Report each year. Failure to do this for more than 2 years will result in the State automatically dissolving the corporation. I have had clients surprised by this more than once over the years.
It is a good idea to document important corporate decisions in writing, either by a written consent resolution or by written meeting minutes, which should be kept in the official corporate record book.
I often find that corporate have no proof of their stock ownership. Every stockholder should have issued a corporate stock certificate in the name of the corporation, issuing the appropriate number of shares of stock to the appropriate owner. I often meet with new corporate clients who have "been incorporated" for years, and have never procured a corporate record book, have no stock certificates and no meeting minutes or consent resolutions.
Limited Liability Company
Limited Liability Company (LLC) is today's usual entity of choice. The LLC can give its owners all of the advantages that have been traditionally enjoyed by the corporation, but with less formal "maintenance" and more flexibility to accomplish the owners' goals in most instances.
Unlike a corporation, there are very few additional "formalities" required for an LLC. Like a corporation, the LLC must file a Michigan Annual Report (MAR). Different from a corporation, failure to do this does not result in automatic dissolution. Instead, the LLC becomes "not in good standing." This may be even worse that dissolution. The name becomes available for others to use and if, after a number of years, you wish to dissolve and terminate the LLC, you must pay the "back" fees and penalties, bring the entity up to date, and then dissolve it.
Aside from the MAR, there are no other formalities required. There is no requirement for officers or directors in an LLC and there is no annual meeting, minutes or written consent requirements (this does not preclude the business from documenting important decisions and events in writing and that may be a good idea in some cases).
Governing Agreements
Whether your business is a Corporation or a Limited Liability Company, if there is more than one participant, a governing agreement is essential (corporations have shareholder agreements and LLC's have operating agreements). These agreements address important management, voting, distribution, succession and buy and sell issues.
It is important that before embarking on the establishment of one of these business entities, you consult with both your tax and legal advisors. While we often see tax consultants "setting up" corporations and LLC's, unless they are also practicing business lawyers, they should not be doing so. Too often, they get the numbers and official filing done (though not always correctly), but fail to complete important legal, technical and practical steps that must be considered when establishing a business entity.
Third party services like the popular internet "legal" provider may have perfectly good forms?but that is all they are; forms. It is a bit like buying a hammer and a saw and thinking you are now qualified to build your own home.
